I absolutely admire 3 Canal- the band, the production, the evolution of the production..... I cannot explain how much your music lifts me up spiritually. I am far away from home but every time I listen to your music I feel sooooo connected, rooted and grounded. The message of your music is so very important. I wish listeners all over the world, Trinbagonian or not, grasp the depth of the music. Boom up History- thank you!!!! Stability and innate freedom- 3 canal. Bless. Peace. Much Love.

played my first jouvay with you guys and since then I am really loving the music that you put forward. love the revolutionary lyrical style with endless trini flavor. As a young artist your music really helps me get fired up and keeps me grounded in knowing why I do what I do. Thanks for the inspiration!

March 12, 2010

I was able to walk with you down Ariapita Avenue last month for Jouvert Morning. Thanks for your music, it is incredible, bought your best of 3 canal cd right away, blue is my favorite, as I was able to participate with the Blue Devils on the Paramin Mountains. What a great experience I had in T&T, now I can listen to your songs and remember the great time I had now that I am back here in Canada. Sabina

I usually go to 3Canal shows but 2010 you really upped the ante. The skillful combination of story, theatrics and music was brilliant. What touched me the most was the time and effort the whole cast took to create a reflection of who we are as a people in Trinidad and Tobago. I genuinely appreciate the fact that in this land of one eyed people, 3Canal is making an effort to give some people a glimmer of sight

elana nathaniel

February 11, 2010

That show was absolutely brilliant!!! I am a die hard fan of 3 canal ...but this surpasses anything u all have done since BLUE There is sooo much to catch that I think I need to see it more than once:) The script...the music..the dance...the songs...and the humour...so witty and that's what our people need for a cleansing and a healing...right on the nose man!! Much blessings and luv and a big thanks for sharing your talents with the world

As always it's been a pleasure working with you guys....i was so elated to be a part of this concert as well as any show i did with you guys in the past and now i look forward to working wtth you guys again because of the love, discipline and positive atomosphere that is encouraged amongst cast members and membors of the veiwing audience as well.....working with you all has changed my life in so many ways. Being part of the 3 canal family has encouraged me to grow spiritually, positively. and lovingly! and it was then and only then that i realised the performing arts has the power to enhance and change lives and one's mental capacity.......and now that i'm here i will never leave your side guys....ever,,,even if it means just being here for you all! your number one fan ......

Lovin' everything you guys are doin, always on and on.

Now, can we talk about your upcoming tour dates??? because I would love to have you perform at my school, Oberlin College this school year (Until May 15th). Oberlin is well-known for it's student steel drum ensemble so it would be INCREDIBLE if we could get 3canal + Oberlin Steel to perform together.
I can do the work on this end if you can find a time to make it to Ohio!!
Please get in touch via email or facebook... will.stamell@oberlin.edu

A lot of things happen and names or events come to mind that make me Proud to be Trini, but never has there been a group of artists and individuals who have embraced the word Ambassadors as Wendell, Roger, Stanton and John (R.I.P) of 3Canal.
From day one I have been a big fan and can still remember my reaction to seeing the video Blue! I went crazy! In addition being in a musical family makes it easier to appreciate class and quality.
Your guys possess a mind-blowing sincerity and humbled nature, un-ending dedication, stern determination to push Rapso music and the culture forward. Need I mention the positive energy in any performance!
Being away from Trinidad for 3 years has been tough especially at Carnival time because I miss the 3Canal show. However, listening to the music daily keeps me going until you visit London and this makes up more than 10 fold.
It is very rewarding and fulfilling to acknowledge that such talent and blessings are part of our being and history.
So guys continue to SHINE and be an inspiration to us all until the work is over!

Prakash

July 16, 2008

I have just discovered your website. I must say that your group is the best musical expression to come out of our twin island state and probably the region in contemporary times. I have been so frustrated with our popular music that I stopped coming home for Carnival. But, your music have always stood above the rest. Uniquely trintobagoian and still addressing local and universal themes. I think I met members of your group when they participated in the 1996 olympics in atlanta.
I lecture on the politics of T&T Carnival music at Georgia State University in Atlanta (a guest speaker in my friend's class) and we have never included any of 3canal's music. I think that is about to change, we will be introducing your music to this young north american audience soon. Take good care and continued success.

Rhonda

July 14, 2008

June 6, 2008

with all due respect to what was being said. I do believe the gentle knew exactly how to spell J'ouvert bu chose to say it. I would like to think that we (trinidad and tobago) can create our own flavor and away from the colonial powers....who ar e you to say they spell it wrong and to what standard yours? or that is the old english master who told you that.

Brothers continue to be the catalyst for progressive innovative sound in trinidad and tobago

Roger

May 28, 2008

Hi Tom, when we started our Jouvay Band [Jocks tuh Pose] in 1994 we decided to spell it phonetically. The more commonly used "J'ouvert" itself is not "correct" and is a phonetic distillation [creolisation] of Jour Ouvert, and has become accepted into the lexicon. Language is an evolving thing.

Jouvay is a time of inversion, where jocks dressed down in their jocks come out to pose in the road, Trinidad is a place where juxtaposition is the norm, hence Jouvay. We also find it a better aesthetic.

May 24, 2008

Listen - as a Trini, I have PLENTY respect fuh allyuh - I appreciate what yall doin, the vibes yuh sendin, so I hate to say this to people here, but "Jouvay" is not the correct spellin (in the bio). J'ouvert is the word allyuh lookin for. I hate to correct, eh - best of luck, I will see yuh on May 30th.
